Meet Nichole - Our new Dreadlocks Loctician

Dreadlocks can be a very low maintenance and cool look with lots of style! When done properly the first time, your dreads will be neat and tidy from the beginning. You can avoid that messy "early stage" so many people would rather not have.   Using a comb and a hook, Nichole can create nice-looking, natural dreads for you without the use of any waxes or chemicals.

Senegalese Twists

Also known as rope twists, senegalese twists are also installed similarly to marley and havana twists.

The difference is in the hair that is used, these twists typically use Kanekalon hair.  This hair  gives a tighter and smoother look and they also tend to be thinner in diameter and less dreadlock-like.

Faux Locs

Faux locs are a temporary protective style similar to box braids whereas loc extensions are intended to be a permanent extension of your hair. Faux locs are installed by twisting or braiding the real hair and then wrapping additional hair around the shaft of the braid/twist

Box Braids

A popular throwback to Poetic Justice, Janet Jackson, and Brandy, this classic 90’s style has recently made a modern comeback.

Are individual plaits that are usually divided by small squared off parts or boxes. Box braids may be of any width or length, but most women add synthetic or natural hair to the braid for length as well as thickness and fullness.

It’s installed using a 3 strand twist – hence the braid.

Typically use similar hair to Senegalese twists to give an overall smoother look.

Cornrows / Yarn Braids

Cornrows are braids created close to the scalp; they are often worn with long extensions or in a bun. Yarn braids are exactly what they say they are—braids, made out of yarn.

Yarn Dreads

Synthetic dreads, also called dread extensions, dread falls, and cyberlocks, are interlocked coils of synthetic hair, mostly kanekalon, that give the look and feel of natural dreadlocks without the commitment or maintenance

Dreadlocks, sometimes referred to as dreads or locks, are basically matted ropes of hair that will form naturally if you neglect them. However, they can also be formed on purpose through various methods that allow you to control their shape and make them very attractive.
